Sharing Session with Physics Education Students with a 2-Year Study at UNC Philippines
Physics Education Study Program of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), Yogyakarta held a “Sharing Session with Physics Education Students with a 2-Year Study at UNC Philippines” on Wednesday, 27 April 2016 at Campus 3 Auditorium D of UAD. The event was attended by Physics Education lecturers and students. The purpose of this event is to give a space for students who have undergone a 2-year study at UNC, Philippines to share their experiences from their Double Degree program. They are Lustianasari and Nizami Asnawi Thalib, PGMIPA U Physics Education students of class 2012.
Lustianasari and Nizami Asnawi Thalib spent 2 years of study at UAD’s Physics Education Excellent Program from 2012-2013. In 2014, they continued their study for 2 years at UNC Philippines. It was all started with their wishful thinking for studying abroad. “I want to study abroad; just like what my father wants me to,” said Nizami while delivering her presentation.
The reason why they were able to study at UNC was because of their great wish that was fully supported by Dr.Ir. Dwi Sulisworo, M.T., a lecturer with whom they had a class with. Initially, all the girls in their class agreed to go to UNC. However, as the time went on, only the two of them were left with their strong will. This program was carried out as the manifestation of the MoU between UAD and UNC Philippines. They completed their studies with a total of 220 credits, and God willing, they could graduate in 2016.
Hopefully, there will be other Physics Education Students who can follow in their footsteps, allowing collaboration between UAD and UNC Philippines. It is because UNC Philippines also expressed their hope for another visit from UAD students. Therefore, this program can realize UAD’s vision, which is to become an internationally-recognized Muhammadiyah university that integrates Islamic values. (H3)
