PGSD OF UAD TEACHES FOREIGN STUDENTS TO MAKE BATIK MASKS
The Primary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) of UAD taught University of Saint Anthony (Usant) and Southeast Asia (SEA) Teacher students to draw Batik patern on masks in Krebet Village, Bantul on Saturday, 26 January 2019. PGSD lecturers who accompanied the students were Fery Setyaningrum, M.Pd. and Probosiwi, M.Sn.
“Usant and SEA Teacher students are very enthusiastic about making batik masks,” said Fery. This activity aims to develop the creativity and imagination of foreign students in artistry. The activity started from the initial process of making a sketch with pencil, coloring (with canting), and finishing the mask. On the occasion, Retno, the owner of Sanggar Peni who manages batik mask business, also explained the history and ways of making masks.
According to Fery, Batik masks made by Usant and SEA Teacher students will later be given to them at the Closing Ceremony. The students clearly have extraordinary talents in making batik masks. (SDY).
