FKIP RESPONDS TO AEC WITH INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY SERVICE (KKN)

27/03/2016/by HUMAS

On Saturday, 26 March 2016 in room 3.18 was held a dissemination of the International Community Service (KKN) program for FKIP students. The event was opened by Mrs. Dian Artha K, M.Pd.Si from Physics Education study program, Mr. Syariful Fahmi, M.Pd. from Mathematics Education study program, Mr. Irfan Yunianto, M.Sc. from Biology Education study program, and Eci Saka from KUI-UAD. FKIP students were very enthusiastic about participating in this activity. A total of 45 FKIP students from various study programs have prepared to register themselves to this prestigious program.
In their presentation, KUI explained the requirements to apply for a visa and passport and what will be needed later, especially for accommodation and transportation at the target country. This year’s International KKN Program has been arranged to be carried out in Songkhla, Southern Thailand. Dian Artha added that UAD FKIP students who would take part in the International Community Service Program were expected to be the best in every activity held there, where the majority of the population is Muslim. Mr Fahmi and Mr Irfan also motivated students in the same manner.
Apart from being enthusiastic about the dissemination conducted that day, the FKIP students actually showed full awareness that they had now entered AEC (ASEAN Economic Community). Every student was aware of the need to become a member of the ASEAN community, or even the world, who was ready to compete with foreign workers. Hopefully, by experiencing International KKN, they will be equipped with required abilities to face the competition, especially in the realm of education in the future. Anyone who does not change will be crushed. “I want to take part in this International KKN because I know that I will get a lot of experience out there.” commented Elna, one of the students who attended the event.
Mr Irfan Yunianto, said that FKIP students must complete three stages before taking part in the International KKN Program. The first one is administrative preparation and KKN briefing by LPM. The second one is technical preparation related to students’ departure, such as language training (at PPB-UAD), luggage (individual-group, money, and sim cards), and security. The last one is documents and activity reports, such as certificates.
Although the requirements for registering for International KKN are not easy to fulfil, all FKIP students who attended this activity looked really interested and confident that the International KKN would provide them with extraordinary knowledge and experiences compared to other programs. The difficulties that they face and the anxiety that they experience will disappear when they are highly confident. We must not be spectators and be unchanged when other countries have started to come and study our nation. It is time for FKIP to be ready to face AEC by becoming a part of the competition in ASEAN, or even the world.

TWO PROFESSORS FROM THAKSIN UNIVERSITY THAILAND ARE APPOINTED AS THE SPEAKERS AT UAD FKIP BEM NATIONAL SEMINAR

21/09/2015/by HUMAS

The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) held a National Seminar on Sunday (20/9) with the topic of “Teacher Readiness in Facing the Asian Economic Community”
The event was attended by 300 participants and invited guests and took place at UAD Campus I Auditorium with Associate Professor Dr. Charas Atiwithayaporn, (Thaksin University, Thailand), Assistant Professor Dr. Rungchatchaporn Vehachat (Thaksin University, Thailand), DR H Sugito, M.Si (PGRI Grand Board), and Drs. Edy Heri Suasana, M.Pd. (Head of Yogyakarta City Education Office) as the speakers.
Dr Sugito, M.Si., in his presentation, stated that a superior professional teacher needed to have a number of competences, including pedagogical, personal, social and professional competences. In addition, a teacher also had to master foreign languages, information technology and learning methods according to teacher’s code of ethics.
Meanwhile, in his presentation, Drs. Edy Heri Suasana, M.Pd. as the Head of Yogyakarta City Education office reported that there were 35,527 schools, 552,083 teachers and 9,653,093 students in Indonesia. The statement was based on the data taken on 25 October 2014 which was updated on 17 June 2015. Facing the AEC, the government does not only need to issue policies but also prepares institutions, facilities and infrastructure, content and individuals. In addition, he also presented his idea on how Indonesia can compete with other countries. In his closing speech, he expressed his hope that Indonesian teachers would be ready to welcome the Asian Economic Community with global competitive competences.
Associate Professor Dr. Charas Atiwithayaporn and Assistant Professor Dr. Rungchatchaporn Vehachat stated that having a particular profession did not mean being professional. Therefore, teaching as a professional is a difficult thing to do because, to become one, a teacher needs to play various roles.
The seminar was attended by the UAD Rector, FKIP Dean, FKIP Vice Dean, FKIP Heads of Study Programs, FKIP Student Guidance, FKIP Public Relations and FKIP Student Organizations. The event was closed with the distribution of souvenirs to all speakers and a panel discussion with participants from several well-renowned universities in Indonesia. (H2)
